Free Smarter Contraception Starts Here

Your Health, Your Time, Your Way

At DrPillmans we have partnered with the NHS to offer all patients in England free  contraception services, including the pill and emergency contraception.

No more waiting on hold at 8am. No rushing to the surgery if you are running late. No rush to the pharmacy before closing. DrPillmans makes accessing contraception convenient and free. We know modern life is busy, so it was important for us to remove these barriers. A service brought online in partnership with the NHS.

You can now complete your consultation online, in your own time, from wherever you are comfortable. Your request will be reviewed by our qualified clinicians who will contact you to ensure treatment is suitable or to provide the best contraception for your needs. It is this flexibility that gives our patients contraception without any delays or missed pills.

Contraception That
Works Around You

More Choice, More Convenience in Contraception Care

DrPillmans is designed to help give people more choices on how they can access contraception without the need to book an appointment with the GP or attend a specialist clinic. By helping to bring this experience online we have made contraception more accessible around a schedule that suits you.

Progesterone-only pill (mini-pill)

This pill contains only one type of hormone. It works to prevent pregnancy, usually in three ways: increasing the thickness of the cervical mucus, thinning the womb lining, and, in some cases, also working to stop ovulation. If taken correctly, the mini pill is over 99% effective and suitable for those who cannot take oestrogen or prefer a simpler option. Our clinical team will discuss what is suitable for you based on the information provided and your personal preferences.

Combined oral contraception

This, as the name suggests, is a combination of two different hormones, progesterone and oestrogen. It works to help prevent pregnancy in three main ways: by stopping ovulation, which means that no egg is released; it helps thicken the cervical mucus, which makes it harder for sperm to reach an egg. It also thins the womb’s lining, so a fertilised egg is less likely to implant.

The combined oral contraceptive is over 99% effective if taken correctly and can be reduced if pills are missed. Usually, the pill is taken for 21 days with a seven-day pill-free period, although in some cases it can be taken continuously.

Which contraceptive pill is right for me?

If you are new to oral contraception, it can seem quite daunting, but here at DrPillmans, we are here to support you in your health decisions and not overwhelm you. You will usually be offered one of two types of oral contraceptive pills:
