Cerazette Contraception
Cerazette Contraception - What is it?
Cerazette, also known as the mini pill, is a progestogen only contraception used to prevent pregnancy. It is a highly effective contraception which is suitable for most women to take. Cerazette contains a synthetic version of the hormone progesterone, which is known as Desogestrel. The mini pill helps to thicken cervical mucus which then prevents sperm from reaching the womb. However, Cerazette also helps to stop ovulation in most women, which means it can stop eggs being released and fertilised to prevent unwanted pregnancy.
Cerazette is different to the combined contraceptive pills as it does not contain oestrogen. Therefore, this mini pill is suitable for women who are unable to take other pills which contain oestrogen for various reasons, including breastfeeding.
Possible Side Effects Of Cerazette
Like most medications, Cerazette can cause side effects in some women. You may experience spotting while taking Cerazette, however, this is a common side effect and it doesn’t necessarily make the pill is less effective. Here are some of the most common side effects:
- Headaches
- Skin irritation and Acne
- Breast tenderness
- Mood changes
- Spotting
- Loss of libido
- Weight change
Although uncommon, some other side effects can include nausea, fatigue or even hair thinning. However, if vomiting or diarrhoea does occur shortly after taking a pill, the medication may be less effective and require the need for extra protection. If you need any advice on late or missed pills, contact us as soon as possible, and we can help provide support and guidance.
While taking Cerazette, some people may develop ovarian cysts, which are fluid filled sacs on the ovaries. These are usually harmless and often disappear on their own without needing any treatment. If you experience any new or unusual symptoms while taking Cerazette, seek urgent medical advice. If you would like to find out whether Cerazette is suitable for you, we can help by reviewing your medical history and discussing your individual needs before prescribing.
Ordering Cerazette has never been easier. We have a dedicated team of registered UK clinicians who are here to provide you with ongoing support and guidance whenever you need it. Cerazette is delivered directly to your door in discreet, plain and unbranded packaging all within the comfort and privacy of your home.
How do I take Cerazette?
Cerazette provides you with four weeks of contraception which is easy to take as it is marked with arrows and the day of the week on the blister strip. The mini pill needs to be taken every day at the same time with water. Once you have finished a pack, you need to start a new one ensuring there are no breaks in between the packs. If you happen to miss a pill accidentally, you should take the missed pill as soon as possible, as well as using an additional method of contraception for the next 7 days to ensure it remains effective. Cerazette is safe to take after you have had a baby and are planning to breastfeed afterwards.
