Eloine Contraception
Eloine Contraception - What is Eloine?
Eloine is a combined oral contraceptive pill which is used to prevent unwanted pregnancy. It contains two active hormones, ethinylestradiol and drospirenone, which both work together to stop the ovaries from releasing an egg. Eloine also works to prevent pregnancy by thickening the cervical mucus, which makes it more difficult for sperm to reach an egg. When taken correctly, Eloine is more than 99% effective, making it a great choice of birth control.

How to take Eloine
Eloine contains 28 pills in a pack. 24 of the pills are pink, and contain active hormones. The remaining 4 pills are white, which are inactive. These pills need to be taken at the same time every day to ensure they are effective at preventing pregnancy. The blister strip is labelled with arrows to help you follow the correct order when taking your daily pill. Once the pack has finished, you need to start the next pack immediately, without the need of taking a break. Some women experience a withdrawal bleed during the time they take the 4 inactive white pills. This however, is completely normal and you should continue with the medication as prescribed.
What are the side effects?
As with any medication, Eloine may cause side effects, especially during the first few months of taking use. This is because your body is adjusting to the hormones, which may cause spotting in some cases. Here are some of the most common side effects you may experience:
- Nausea
- Headaches
- Breast tenderness
- Mood changes
- Loss of libido
- Irregular bleeding
Some women may also notice changes to their menstrual cycle, as well as other symptoms such as, bloating, irritability and fatigue. If you experience any severe symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath or swelling in the legs, seek help from a medical professional immediately.
Are there any benefits of taking Eloine?
Eloine is a highly effective contraceptive pill, and can also provide additional benefits for some women. Eloine can be prescribed to help regulate your periods, and also improve symptoms of PMS. This is because Eloine contains the active hormone drospirenone, which is known to offer benefits such as reducing fluid retention as well as bloating. Eloine may also help to improve acne and other skin issues which can be caused by hormonal changes during the menstrual cycle.
Can anyone use Eloine?
Eloine is a safe, reliable and effective contraception for most women, however, in some cases, it may not be suitable. Eloine is not recommended if you:
- Are pregnant
- Have recently given birth
- Have a history of blood clots
- Have high blood pressure
- Have certain heart, kidney, or liver disease
- Suffer from migraines with aura
Eloine is also not recommended for women over the age of 35 who smoke, as this can increase the risk of blood clots and cardiovascular issues.
