How does Lucette work?
Lucette contains a combination of hormones which work to help prevent ovulation. This means that the ovaries do not release an egg during the monthly menstrual cycle. Lucette also works to thicken cervical mucus which ultimately makes it more difficult for sperm to travel through the cervix and reach an egg. Hormonal contraceptive also changes the lining of the uterus, which prevent a fertilised egg from implanting.
How to take Lucette
Lucette is a highly effective contraceptive option for women who are trying to prevent pregnancy. When taken correctly, it can provide up to 99% of protection against pregnancy. Lucette should be taken daily at the same time, for 21 consecutive days. This is then followed by a 7 day break where no pills are taken. During this pill free break, many women experience a withdrawal bleed which is similar to a period. Once the 7 day break is complete, you would need to start the next pack imminently. If a pill has been missed, it may reduce the levels of protection it can provide. If you do miss a pill, seek guidance from a healthcare professional as soon as possible.
